Position Description:

Responsible for performing operational, financial and information systems audits of various departments and divisions of the organization in order to verify accuracy, efficiency and effectiveness.  Plan and develop audit programs, perform and document audit procedures with minimal supervision of the Audit Director.  Work is to be performed in accordance with established professional standards.

Day to Day Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Surveys functions and activities in assigned areas to determine the nature of operations and the adequacy of the system of control to achieve established objectives.
  • Prepares for and leads planning meetings.
  • Plans scope and objectives and develops audit programs for audits.
  • Prepares project level risk assessments, where applicable, and identifies fraud related risks and controls. 
  • Performs audits in accordance with the approved audit program with minimal supervision of Audit Director.
  • Obtains, analyzes and appraises evidentiary data as the basis for an informed, objective opinion on the adequacy and effectiveness of the system and the efficiency of performance on the activities being reviewed.
  • Makes recommendations for the correction of deficiencies identified.
  • Drafts audit reports for review by Audit Director.
  • Ensures reports are accurate, well written, timely, and consistent with professional standards and reflect collaboration with business area under audit/review.
  • Appraises the adequacy of the corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions.
  • Prepares for and leads exit conferences.
  • Performs follow-up reviews to ensure planned corrective actions have been taken and issues are closed.
  • Monitors, evaluates and tests internal controls.
  • Provides consulting services on special projects per agreed upon activities.
  • Considers fraud in the performance of audit and consulting engagements.
  • Facilitates audits conducted by 3rd party consultants.
  • Performs audit responsibilities in a professional manner and in accordance with standards for the practice of internal auditing and the IIA’s Code of Ethics.  Maintains high integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  • Pursues professional development and professional association memberships.

What You Bring to the Team:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, finance, or related discipline and five (5) or more years of experience in public accounting, internal auditing, regulatory auditing, or commensurate experience is required.  CPA, CIA or CISA certification is desirable.  Experience in the financial services industry, with information systems auditing, Sarbanes-Oxley, and/or COSO is a plus. 


  • Must be able to use auditing and accounting concepts, practices and procedures to perform audits with minimal supervision of the Audit Director. 
  • A good understanding of internal controls is essential. 
  • Must be able to work independently and draw conclusions using sound judgment. 
  • Must be able to complete specific assigned tasks within allocated time budgets. 
  • Must possess strong analytical and organizational skills. 
  • Good project management skills are helpful. 
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal relationship skills. 
  • A high degree of integrity is required as this position works with sensitive and highly confidential information.
